"Lets talk iPhone" - CONFIRMED iPhone 5 Release Date

The official image for the Apple iPhone 5 Media Event

Recently, Apple announced a media event to be scheduled on October 4th along with a slogan "Let's Talk iPhone" and the image above. This leads us to believe that iOS 5 will be made available fordownload either on October 1st or the day of the iPhone 5's release. Some speculation leads us to think that the iPhone 5 may be called the iPhone 4 S or quite possibly, Apple will launch two models of the world renowned iPhone on the widely awaited and publicized date - October 4th 2011 - one being the iPhone 5 and one the iPhone 4 S. Stay posted for the article on the possible and likely features of the new iPhone(s)

Facebook Chat on Mac - iChat

iChat Icon

Of the millions of Mac Owners and Facebook Users, how many of them do you think use Facebook chat frequently ? ( Meant to be rhetorical but feel free to comment ) Facebook's chat service is quite possibly one of the most attractive features of the Billion dollar enterprise. As opposed to other chat services such as MSN messenger, Facebook allows you to chat with users without having their email ID and also without downloading any software; it works through your web browser. So to use this -

1. You'll need a facebook "username". Go to your facebook profile and it'll be in the url in the format 'http://www.facebook.com/your_username" where 'your_username' is your username.
2. Now open iChat from the applications folder in your mac or search for it on iChat.
3. Now press command-comma(,) to open iChat preferences.
4. Go to accounts within the preferences window and add a new account.
5. Fill in the following details -

How do I make iPhone / iPad applications ( For free) ?

Bad news first: You have to pay $99
Good news: You can make the apps first and then if you want to sell / distribute them, THEN you have to pay $99.

Is it a tedious process ?

To make them, maybe. To attempt to make them, no. Here's how it works -

1. Sign up for a free ID here
2. Download the iOS SDK - iOS Software Development Kit which includes Xcode and the iOS Simulator.
3. Build and develop your applications. I suggest reading a book to learn how or youtube tutorials if you prefer visual demonstrations
4. Test your app on the iPhone / iPad simulator that comes with the SDK. ( Yes there's a simulator and its awesome. Image shown above and below )
5. If you like it and feel it'll sell, pay Apple $99 and send them the apps.

iPhone 5 and iOS 5 Release Date

This article is mostly for those who read about the September 7th deadline for the release of iOS 5 and the iPhone 5. Clearly, that was incorrect. While there is no official news about the newest iPhone from Apple, it is expected to be released on October 10th or 13th either along with or a few days after the release of iOS 5. While iOS 5 has already been released in a keynote. Apple has yet to hold an event for the release of the iPhone 5 and based on their history of past releases, its likely to be scheduled a few days after iOS 5 is made available on Apple.com as a free download. Developers ( The ones who have paid $99 to develop iPhone applications ) can already download the beta version of iOS 5. The complete list of new features to be introduced in iOS 5 can be seen here

I'll admit it. My personal favorite racing game is still Real Racing 2 HD for iPad but Asphalt 6 Adrenaline HD is a close second. And the best part - its free for a limited time only. So download it here now. Even if you read this after the "limited time", you might want to consider buying it for its bug free fully featured HD graphics and gaming experience. ( $6.99 )

Windows in Lion - All you need to know

The application windows in lion have changed drastically although ironically enough, its hard to notice. Today, I'm going to tell you how.

One of the things Apple bragged about before the rekease if Mac OS X Lion was the ability to resize windows from any side or corner. Apple certainly held up to that bargain and resizing windows on Lion is far easier, more convenient and it looks better too without the three little lines at the bottom right corner of the window ( in Snow Leopard and previously ) Now you simple move your mouse over to the side where you want it to resize from, click and drag.

Another new feature is that now, if you hold down option while doing this it resizes from your end AND from the end opposite to where you're dragging. So essentially, you dom't lose the symmetry of the window in your screen which we're all so eager to have.

Holding down shift keeps the proportions of the window the same which is particularly useful when viewing images / videos.
